Underwater Remote Sensing

Bedrock Ocean Exploration is a marine surveying service that produces high resolution surveying data of our ocean’s vast sub nautical terrain. They develop their own battery powered autonomous underwater drone-like vehicles which use sonar, cameras, and lasers to map the seafloor. Bedrock offers a technology-driven approach to this task which had previously been done by much larger surface vessels that are resource and labor intensive. This new method allows for a far greater scope of capture in less time. Much like the use of satellites in space to collect remote sensing imagery of our terrestrial earth, mapping the ocean floor can give us important insights into layout and spatial patterns of the underwater environment, man-made infrastructure, and geophysical resources. Surveys are uploaded to cloud computing engines where interested parties can apply analytical processing tools to the survey data in order to drive insights and decision making. In their company mission they say, “We believe there is no future on earth without a better understanding of our oceans.”
